I was walking along a street on "The Plateau" in Montreal, when I arrived at a clearing. An empty lot where a building once stood. It was now protected and sectioned off with huge cement pylons to prevent squatters from settling as well as avoid the litter of abandoned cars. The little girl was startled by my sudden appearance from behind the wall she was being protected by. I caught her in that state of surprise.

This area of Montreal was at one time run down. It was considered slummy. Today it has become a hub of trendy shops restaurants and "nouveau riche" condominium dwellers.
